We have arrived in Hoima and this is Sam and Eliza’s version of events as to how we got here.
Hello to you committed people who care about us enough to read our blog…(and Liza and Ian).
After being forced against our will to endure a painful night in a a luxury hotel in Abu Dhabi, we were ready to start our African adventure. After a grand total of 3 swift flights to get us into Entebbe, we took a journey to the Boma which felt endless but in reality in only took 5 mins.
At the end of the day we spent a night in the Boma Hotel which obviously completely outclassed the 5* Abu Dhabi Hotel. We all had a peaceful night. Ending a beautifully long lay in, we finally got up at 6:30am to begin our trek to Kampala and beyond.
We started our day of by going to Watoto Church in Kampala- we were all both astounded and in complete awe of their passion in worship (a lot of us ended up in tears…). And after some amazing worship we sat down to a really short , inspiring talk which obviously absolutely none of us fell asleep in…(*cough* Helen Jarman *cough*).
After the Church service ended we were all bearded back into the buses to begin our hashtag (couldn’t find the symbol on Apple) 2k16ladsontourroadtrip. We stopped off to get some munchies for our long 4 hour drive ahead which consisted of fake Pringles and fake tea biscuits (they were actually ok).
The journey was pretty uneventful besides waving to a few children on the side of the road until we got to Lwamata where we got swarmed with meat sticks and various other foods forcefully shoved through our windows. Once we took the necessary precautions we bought some of the food and it was GOOOOOD!
During the rest of the journey most of us fell asleep therefore we can’t actually remember what happened.
The moral to this story is the world is still normal, and we (Sam and Eliza) are continuing with our hate/hate relationship. We also got brutally forced to write this blog together and it took us long enough (roughly an hour) to stop arguing and actually write something.
All the love,
Sam and Eliza
Duncan’s Edit – Considering how much travelling we have done over the last few days everyone is in very good spirits and everyone is playing various different card games, who needs iPhones or xboxs? First evening meal has just been finished and it looks like a plague of locusts have descended, not much left. We are making sure they are drinking plenty.
Photos are:
Checking the damage to our wet boxes, kids playing cards. Eliza and Sam arguing while they try and write the blog and then happy once it has been completed!
Back tomorrow
