Today was Awesome! After waking up and having breakfast we headed to Duhaga Boys School (although girls also attend). Everyone was very welcoming, crowding the bus as we arrived. The kids loved to get hi 5’s, handshakes and hugs. At first some of us didn’t really know what to do but they were very welcoming and easy to get along with, hi 5’s definitely helped break the ice. They even blessed as by singing our national anthem. The energy they had was refreshing and put a smile on everyone’s face.

After our short visit to the school we popped into see Thad who has lived here for 17 years. He was very welcoming showing us around and introducing us to the people he lives with. He also invited us back later in the week for pancakes! He showed us around his impressive garden where he is growing Mangos, pineapples, bananas amongst other things.

We than returned for lunch and prepared for our activities at the boys school for tomorrow. The craft team requires 360 face masks to be cut out before we go to bed. As I write this it is 8pm and we still have a long way to go before all the masks are cut (Duncan Edit – it is now 8.15 and the youth have had enough cutting so it is now down to the leaders to finish the job while they play Mafia!). However, I am sure it will be worth it when the kids enjoying colouring them all in and wearing them.

We then had a dip in the pool enjoying some relaxation time and had a very competitive girls vs boys volleyball game.

We then went to visit The Mustard Seed, the children were all excited to see us. There were children of all ages, from new born to young adults. We handed out sweets and balloons which they really enjoyed. We gave them our cameras and we look forward to seeing the photos and shakey video they took for us. We ran around with them around the garden. It was hard to leave but we look forward to seeing them tomorrow.

We headed back for dinner (very good mash potato) and are now unwinding before bed at 10pm.
