Wednesday 3rd August
Today a few of us woke up at 6.30am to go to Thad’s house (on American local) to decorate for Jenny McMullen’s birthday.
At 8am the others arrived for pancakes along with Bishop Nathan and the Bishop Elect, Sam. Thad’s pancakes are the best.
After Thad’s we went to Buswerkera village, this is the link church to St John’s, HW. We met the parish priest and lay reader along with someone who has just been made Canon. We did our devotion for today in St James Church which included members of the local congregation.
We then came home and had a lunch break before heading off to another rural village, Waki! We were given a tour of a typical Ugandan village, they explained how community was important to them and also about the lifestyle they have. We wondered around and met some of the community and handed out a few gifts such as bubble, finger puppets & sweets .
After this we returned back to the hotel, where we relaxed by the pool.
In the evening we all sat down to enjoy a meal and then ended the night with some card games and pub snacks, curtesy of Jenny’s birthday.
Duncan Edit – At last power has come on at 8.15pm tonight! Everyone is rushing to get their water heaters on which means we will probably blow it again!!!
Hope everyone is enjoying the blog and photo’s that are being updated. It was lovely being able to hold our devotion at St James today, they told us how they have been praying for our arrival for the last month, prior to our arrival.
Photo’s are Pancakes and birthday celebrations at Thad’s. Devotion at St James and also all of the youth team on the steps of St James Church steps.
